Due to the economical growth and fast increasing demand from the growing middleclass, American Harley-Davidson is establishing itself in India. The world known brand does not want to be left behind once the train has left the station and its typical markets have matured. The company is looking for new possibilities in India.
“Soon we will be able to cruise on Harley Davidson in the busy streets in Mumbai. Harley-Davidson announced a few weeks ago that they will open their own sales office in India”, says DI’s Own Man In India, Ejvind Vøgg.
Harley-Davidson is a splendid symbol of the new India that is emerging today. From the bike rickshaws and the old Ambassador cars, model 1956 in the old classical days, we have now reached a modern India with international and exclusive European brands such as Lamborghini being circumvented by Jaguars and Land Rovers – the latter is now owned by the Indian company TATA.
Explosive Indian market
“Harley-Davidson is moving to India to get a share of the rapidly growing market. The company has neither traditions nor experience within the Indian market, but they do not want to be left behind once the train has left, and their typical markets are matured. They are seeking new possibilities in the Indian market”, Ejvind Vøgg continues.
All in all it is a good example of the development we currently see in the Indian market. More and more foreign producers of high quality goods are turning towards India, where economic growth and the large, growing, and consuming middleclass continuously demands goods of high international standards.
Good possibilities for Danish companies
“There is definitely possibilities in India for Danish companies that today are facing decreasing demand from their traditional markets”, says Ejvind Vøgg. He further points out that he, as DI’s Own Man In India, is always available for the member companies who are considering entering the Indian market.
